– Residents
Residents of Port Kaituma are rejecting the assertion by Prime Minister and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Energy Samuel Hinds that the community receives no-charge for the first 15 kWh of electricity.
It was noted that after reading a letter by the Prime Minister dated February 11, 2014 under the caption “Govt. has been more than keeping its part of the bargain in Lethem” it has been clear that the Minister is being misled by officials around him.
“I am ashamed of the Minister’s advisors who are paid by the government. They are actually advising the Prime Minister to mislead the nation by making such statements because residents have not received any such concession,” according to Richard Allen who is on the region’s power company Board of Directors.
The Prime Minister had noted that citizens at Mahdia and Port Kaituma are abiding, from the inception, with the pricing of no-charge for the first 15 kWh and $100 for every additional kWh, for a 24×7 service.
