A suspect is still to be held in connection with last Thursday’s shooting incident at Number 69 Village, Corentyne.
On Thursday last Oumesh Ballram, 16 was shot in the abdomen at his Number 69 Village, Corentyne, Berbice home following a foiled robbery attempt.
The injured youth was first rushed to the Skeldon Hospital, before being transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital and then to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
It was later revealed that he was shot just below his heart. The bullet reportedly damaged the spine. He is still hospitalised.
Investigators said that the shot youth’s father, Dinesh Ballram, actually reported that someone had been arrested. No one was ever arrested.
Medical sources now say that the youth, who is still to undergo surgery, will have to travel to Miami, U.S.A. for treatment.
Investigators have stated that most of the statements taken have been conflicting. They have also not been able to question the father, Dinesh Ballram, a Cambio dealer, as he has not made himself available since the incident.
