The Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice will stage their Phagwah race meet on Sunday March 23rd at their racetrack.
The provisional programme features seven races and the competition is expected to be keen as owners look to have their horses make early marks on the 2014 programme.
The main event is for racehorses classified A & Lower W/A, covering 6 Furlongs with a $1,000,000 purse on offer for the winner. The other top places will collect $500,000, $250,000 and $125,000.
Other races on the programme are for: E & Lower W/A over 6 Furlongs for $400,000, $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 for the respective top placers.
J 3 & Lower W/A 5 FURS – $150,000, $75,000, $38,000, $19,000; I & Lower W/A 6 FURS $250,000, $125,000, $63, 000, $32,000; G & Lower W/A 7 FURS $300,000, $150,000, $75,000, $38000; 3YRS – Guyana bred & Al bred (Open) 7 FURS $400,000, $200,000, $100,000, $50,000; J1 & Lower W/A 6 FURS $200,000, $100,000, $50,000, $25,000.
According to some of the rules governing the meet: The races are being run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority; In the event that there are less than five (5) horses entered for any event the club reserves the right to cancel or reframe the said event or reduce the prize money after consulting with the horse owners.
Owners of horses must pay at least $5,000 for each horse at the time of entry. If not paid the horses’ names would not appear on the official Programme and the horse will not be permitted to run; Five horses to start before a 3rd prize will be paid and Seven horses to start before a 4th Prize will be paid.
Entries close on Sunday, 16th of March, 2014. No late entry will be accepted
