Detectives have detained a Paradise, Essequibo Coast woman after she was implicated in torching her former lover’s one -bedroom wooden house at Devonshire Castle.
Danniram Chattergoon, a/k “Christmas” the fisherman who is now homeless said that he was informed about the fire Friday morning after one of his nieces informed him.
Chattergoon, who was in tears, explained that he and the suspect, Margaret, lived in a common-law relationship for 13 years but had terminated that union almost five months ago. Since then he has been living with another woman.
Chattergoon is maintaining that if he is compensated to foot the expense of rebuilding his house he would not pursue the matter with Margaret.
He said that he and his new paramour lost their bed and other household articles.
Neighbors said Chattergoon, a known alcoholic, still visited Margaret although he was living with another woman.
