Gunmen opened fire on a building housing Auto Fashion, a leading distributor of auto accessories located in Campbellville, twice within the last six days.
Proprietor of the establishment Rupee Shewjattan said that the first incident occurred around midnight two Fridays ago whilst he was out of the country.
He said that he was told that the two gunmen who were on motorcycles fired about six shots at his building.
That incident was reported, but it was difficult for investigators to make an arrest since there were no eyewitnesses to the shooting and the surveillance cameras on the building did not capture the faces of the suspects.
According to the businessman, at around 23:00hrs on Thursday, two men again opened fire on his building. This time around, they fired about five gunshots, before again escaping on a motorcycle.
Shewjattan said that one of the gunmen came off the motorcycle and shot at the building. He is puzzled as to who would want to shoot at his premises.
Kaieteur News understands that the police have footage of the persons who carried out Thursday’s shooting incident.
“I am not doing any other business but auto business. I have no enemies and I have no angry customers so I have no clue as to who may want to just shoot at this building,” the businessman said.
He added that he is positive that investigators will find the shooters. “Last night (Thursday) the police were here six minutes after the shooting but because they didn’t have a proper description of the men, they didn’t find anyone.”
The businessman added that he believes the police could do a lot more if they had the necessary equipment required for them to do their work.
