Barrow, Nedd performances highlight Third Day
Chase Academy striker Shamar Barrow fired in a brace to lead his team to a comfortable 3-0 win over Tutorial High as play in this year’s Milo/Petra Organisation Schools Football Competition continued yesterday, at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Barrow’s goals came in the 7th and 60th minutes of play, while an own goal that occurred in the
26th minute completed their tally.
Last year’s Highest Goalscorer Marlon Nedd started off his campaign on a positive note when he lashed in a double to lead Carmel to a come from behind 2-1 victory over Richard Ishmael in their encounter.
Tuquan Gladstone had given Richard Ishmael the early ascendancy in the 2nd minute of play, before Nedd’s pair that was scored within five minutes of their lead, canceled out their advantage and denied them any point.
In the opening clash, Kingston issued a warning to their rivals when they beat David Rose 4-2 thanks to solitary strikes from Tremaine McCurdy (14th), Nemar Douglas (21st), Vincent Thomas (30th) and Shawn Grovesnor (34th).
For David Rose, Sean Murray (62nd) and Akeem Giddings (70th) goals failed to alter the final result.
In the final game of the day, Shamar Barrow’s wonderful lob over the advancing goalkeeper’s head was enough to hand South Ruimveldt a 1-0 win over a stubborn Christ Church Secondary. Barrow’s effort came in the 30th minute of play.
Meanwhile, the Organisers have stated that there will be no matches today, but the competition resumes next Saturday, at the same venue.
