A 21-year-old supervisor attached to the Kuru Kuru training centre was killed in an accident around 19:30 hrs on Sunday on the Soesdyke/Linden highway.
Dead is Jasmin Norton of Mabaruma, Region One.
According to information, the young woman was in a taxi heading along the East Bank Demerara Public Road when the driver crashed into a parked truck. Norton was at the time sitting next to the driver.
According to the sister, Elaine Norton, the woman was at the time heading to Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara to visit her little sister.
Elaine who resides in Mabaruma said that when her sister was killed, no one from the training centre contacted her or any other relatives to inform them about her death.
“I am very upset with how these people at the training centre treated Jasmin. I would like to advise the authorities to investigate the way the ones in charge at the centre treat the workers and students.”
Family members of the dead woman are calling on the police to conduct a thorough investigation into her death.
