The Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) will be staging a Dexterity/Race Challenge event on March 1, at the National Park, starting from 16:00 hrs.
According to a source close to the club, the Dexterity/Race Challenge will see drivers permitted to use there normal road going vehicles and have some amount of racing fun under a controlled environment.
The official added that this form of racing was absent for the last 8 yrs and the whole aim of the event is to provide family entertainment and racing in Georgetown.
When questioned on how the activity is done he said it will be an elimination bout where a course will be set with pylons and the driver will be given directions on how to drive through it.
“One car will be allowed at a time and you will be racing against the clock and your time will be taken to see who does it the fastest. The first 20 vehicles move on to the other round to another elimination where a new course will be implemented,” he outlined.
According to him, the event will test maximum skill of acceleration, braking and turning and the driver and car should become one and be able to maneuver the course as quickly as possible.
He added that to participate in the event, a driver do not need a specially built race car just the requisite skills.
Drivers willing to be part of the action can contact the GMR&SC on Albert Street, Thomas Lands before February 25.
