Felix Austin Police College (FAPC) and Head Quarters (HQ) captured the male and female titles respectively when the curtains came down on the Leroy Brumell 10\10 softball competition on Sunday night last at the Police Sports Club ground Eve Leary.
FAPC defeated Immigration by 15 runs in the male final. Batting first FAPC
scored 105-4 in 10 overs. Jason Mc Almont top scored with 38 which contained three sixes, while Kelsey Archer supported with 23 (1×6,2×4). Troy Benn, Orin Parris and Jabary Joseph claimed one wicket each.
Immigration, who drew the bye to the final, replied with 90-8 in 10 overs. Joseph made 22 (3×6) while Parris chipped in with 10; Mc Almont took 2-13 for the winners.
FAPC overcame Tactical Service Unit (TSU) by 21 runs in the semi-final. FAPC posted 116-5 in 10 overs, batting first. David Rodwell stroked 51 which included five sixes and two fours and Marlon Looknauth made 29 (3×6).
TSU managed 95-6 in 10 overs in response. Linden Mc Koy led with 32 (2×6,2×4) and Travis Fullington scored 24 (1×6,2×4). Nathaniel Gittens captured 2-6.
HQ got the better of A Division in the female final. HQ, who drew the bye to the final, scored 88-5 in 10 overs after taking first strike. Fiona Ward slammed 27 with two fours while Reneka Isaacs made 19 (1×4) and Stacy Wilson 14 (1×4).
A Division could only muster 44-5 in 10 overs in reply. A Division triumphed over FAPC
by 41 runs in the semis. A Division rattled up 96-4 in 10 overs, batting first, while FAPC scored 55-6 in their reply.
Meanwhile, in an exhibition game before the finals, Floodlight beat Police Officers by 33 runs. Floodlight batted first and scored 160-3 in 15 overs with Rickey Deonarine leading the way with 63 and Richard Persaud scored 49. Police Officers replied with 127-5 in 15 overs. S. Reid and L. Lord made 31 and 29 respectively.
