The Ministry of Agriculture is warning that a high intensity weather pattern will lead to heavy rains especially in the West Demerara and West Berbice areas today.
According to the Agriculture Ministry, the system over the Atlantic continues to develop and as such, Guyana will experience rainfall of 45 to 80mm over a 24-hour period.
Most affected are those residing in Regions Three to Five and Northern Region Six.
According to the latest report from the Hydromet Department, there is a 70 percent chance that the weather pattern will remain as predicted.
“As such, the Ministry of Agriculture is advising those in low-lying, and riverain areas to take all necessary precautions against possible flooding. While the relevant authorities continue to be on alert, the Ministry of Agriculture is asking persons to report any flooding by calling their hotline # on 227-5079/223-7291.”
The rains are expected to ease by this evening.
