Fifteen year old Kemo Paul is a talented cricketer. Born on the 21st of February 1998 at Saxacalli, Essequibo River, Paul, like most young cricketers aspires to represent the West Indies at the highest level.
Paul, who is a fast bowling all-rounder, started to take cricket seriously at the age of 11 when he migrated to the island of Wakenaam. He is a member of the Noitgedacht Sports Club and Demerara Cricket Club and

represented Guyana at the U-15, 17 and 19 levels. He captained his country in the 2012 Regional U-15 tournament in St. Kitts. His best performance in that tournament was 76 and 3-15 versus the Windward Islands.
In the 2013 regional U-17 tournament which was held in Trinidad and Tobago, Paul most outstanding feat with the bat was 54 against Leeward Islands and 3-29 with the ball against Jamaica. He also scored a half century against Demerara in the 2013 senior inter county one day tournament.
Paul told Kaieteur sport that he started to play the game at Saxacalli, but develop his skills in Wakenaam where he was exposed to club cricket. He was subsequently selected to play for the Essequibo Islands’ Secondary School where his talent was spotted and was invited to the Essequibo U-15 inter county trials and never looked back.
Paul knows that he has to continue working hard if he is to achieve success on a regular basis especially at the higher level. “I am looking forward to the next Regional U-17 and U-19 tournament. I always give my best for my country and i am hoping to break into the West Indies U-19 team in the near future”, he added.
Paul has displayed maturity that belied his age and has already gained the attention of the number of senior cricket officials in Guyana and the Caribbean. He trains three to four times a week.
