Bhaskar Yadram’s 41 and 8 for 5 ensures Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes advance to semifinals – Edinburgh also through
A fighting innings and telling spell of leg spin bowling from Guyana Under-15 captain Bhaskar Yadram playing in his first club match in Berbice, gave Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes the edge over No. 73 Young Warriors to earn their place in the semi-finals of the 2013 Tenelec Inc Cricket Competition.
In the quarter-final which was played at No. 73, Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes took first innings honours from No. 73 Young Warriors in the match which ended in a draw.
Choosing to bat first, Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes made 138 all out in their first innings with Yadram topscoring with 41, Kevon Anderson 30 N.O and Haifa Walters 25. Bowling for No. 73 Young Warriors, Abdul Ajib took 4 for 15 and Vickram Laljit 3 for 11.
When No. 73 Young Warriors replied they could not cope with the leg-spin of Yadram and with him taking 8 wickets for 5 runs from 7 Overs with 4 maidens, they were duly bowled out for 51 with only Taleshwar Baichan with 16 and Sahif Jamesay 13 reaching double figures.
Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes batting a second time had reached 100 for 9 when time ran out, Yadram again topscoring this time with 21. Shaif Jamesay took 5 for 40 and Ajib 2 for 15.
Also advancing to the semi-finals were Edinburgh, who defeated Achievers on first innings in their drawn quarter-final.
In that match which was played at Edinburgh, Achievers choosing to bat first made 104 all out in their 1st innings with Joseph Nicholson 27. Bowling for Edinburgh, Ishwar Mangru took 4 for 34, Joel Seiteram 3 for 52 and Raffik Latif 2 for 10.
Edinburgh replied with 119 all out in their first innings with Raffik Latif topscoring with 32 N.O, while Joseph Nicholson took 4 for 19 with Titus Webster 4 for 33 for Achievers.
Achievers in their 2nd innings made 129 for 3 declared with Makesh Ramroop 64 N.O and Titus Webster 38. Ishwar Mangru took 2 for 44. With just 40 minutes play left, Edinburgh were 31 for 2 at the close.
