Lower East Coast Bulls, West Bank Demerara Mavericks, Georgetown Bears and Lower East Bank Lions recorded victories when the third round of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB)/Raj Singh Insurance Brokers over-40 20 overs tournament continued yesterday.
At the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Georgetown Buffaloes went down to Lower East Coast Bulls by 6 wickets. Fitzroy Colley top scored with 77 (12×4,1×6) and was supported by Burty Carmichael 28 not out as Georgetown posted 158 in 20 overs, batting first.
In reply the Bulls made 159 for 4 in 19.1 overs courtesy of Man-of-the-Match Clifton Anderson who led with 58. Seemangal Yadram (29) and L. Gobin (23) were the other principal contributors.
At the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, West Bank Demerara Mavericks defeated Upper East Coast Titans by 23 runs. Mavericks posted a mammoth 179 for 8 from their 20 overs after taking first strike.
Man-of-the-match Eon Williams stroked 51, Emran Sullivan supported with an unbeaten 37 and Shem Persaud made 18. Ramkissoon Sebalak claimed 2 for 16.
The East Coast team replied with 157 for 8 in their 20 overs. Eon Abel was their leading batsman with 34 (4×4,2×6), while Mark Malone scored 30 (3×4,1×6) and Jagdesh Persaud 25 ( 3×4,1×6); Williams returned to take 2-10.
At the Everest Cricket Club ground, Georgetown Bears whipped Upper East Bank Colts by six runs.
Batting first the Bears compiled a challenging 167 for 5 off their allotted overs. Man-of-the-match Clive Grimmond cracked 59 and received support from Surendra Heralall 37.
In reply the Upper East Bank Colts were restricted to 161 for 7. Vijay Ramgobin slammed 57 and skipper Rohan Sarjoo made 37. Carlos Reid and Heralall grabbed figures of 3 for 13 and 2 for 21 respectively.
Playing at the Wales Community Centre ground, Lower East Bank Lions defeated West Coast Demerara Seals by three-wickets in their encounter.
