Twenty four football teams from as many secondary schools are scheduled to take centre stage when the Kashif and Shanghai Entertainment and promotional group presents the 24th edition of their yearend football extravaganza and the organizers are promising a chockfull of action reminiscent of the recently concluded Digicel U-18 football extravaganza.
The K&S principals, known for their acute administrative expertise, have been working feverishly to ensure that the tournament receives the requisite support towards its resounding success. Consequently, one of the K&S Directors, Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major, recently left Guyana for Washington DC, USA, where he received tangible support from Caribbean Cargo DC to offset expenses relevant to the success of the tournament.
CEO of the donating firm, Royston De Souza admitted that he had never had an opportunity to attend the tournament but he received favourable feedback of the quality and professional approach of the promoters. He also said that he learned of the national award bequeath to the organization by the Government of Guyana after 23 consecutive years of staging the annual Knock-out Christmas tournament.
“I was only introduced to Mr Major this morning (yesterday) by our Customer Service Representative, Earl Paul and was so delighted when I heard of their plans for their 24th edition of their tournament that I felt obliged to render some form of support,” said Mr De Souza.
He said that Caribbean Cargo DC is truly a Caribbean Shipping Company and they are currently contemplating expanding their business in Guyana. He feels that his support for the imminent tournament is adequate and fitting introduction to this country. “We currently serve the mid-Atlantic region of the USA and all the Caribbean countries,” he revealed.
The company has donated two desktop computers which will go to the two schools out of Linden that reaches the furthest in the tournament. Further, Caribbean Cargo DC has donated a quantity of footballs for the tournament plus an undisclosed sum to assist in the tournament preparation.
“Caribbean Cargo DC would like to take this opportunity to wish the Kashif & Shanghai Organization, the Ministry of Education, and all participating schools every success; may the best School win,” concluded Mr De Souza. He also committed to future support on a larger scale.
Mr Major expressed deep gratitude to his benefactor and assured him that the gift will assist in the success of the tournament.
