The Albion Cricket Club has been producing national cricketers for over 50 years and the club’s administration and Guyana Cricket Board wants to ensure that this continues.
Last weekend, the club received a check to help with its developmental programmes from Guyana Cricket Board (GCB).
President of Albion Cricket Club Lloyd Kanden, in an invited comment said that Albion fully appreciated the work being done by the GCB noting that the Albion Cricket Ground is once again a preferred venue for First Class cricket.
He reflected on the good old days when International cricket was played at the club and looks forward to the installation of lights by the Government.
In presenting the cheque Vice President of the GCB Mr. Fizul Bacchus stated that he and his fellow Executive are prepared to work with all stakeholders interested in promoting and developing the game.
He urged all the clubs across the country to understand that cricketers are produced at the club level and the dedication of club Executives is paramount in developing the young players. Bacchus also emphasised that Executives functioning at all levels of cricket administration in Guyana volunteer their time and resource; in this regard he was very complimentary to the Albion Executives for their successes.
