The second semi-final in the Universal DVD first division T20 cricket competition in Berbice is set for today from 13:30hrs at the Port Mourant Ground on the Corentyne where Group A winner Bermine will tackle Group B runner-up Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets.
Rose Hall, even without their main batsman Assad Fudadin, who is presently in India with the West Indies A team, boasts a good all round side on paper and will certainly start as favourites. Their batting will be spearheaded by the hard-hitting wicket-keeper batsman Delbert Hicks, all-rounder Rajiv Ivan, Jason Sinclair, Dominique Rikki, all-rounder Clinton Pestano and Khemraj Mahadeo.
Their bowling attack will be led by off-spinners Ivan, Eon Hooper and Shailendra Shameer, as well as leg-spinners Ravi Narine and Shawn Perreira. Pestano is the only pacer in the side.
Bermine’s batting line-up once it gets going has the capability of giving the Rose Hall bowlers much to think about.
It will be spearheaded by Shemroy Barrington and Anthony D’Andrade. They will be backed up by all-rounders Devon Clements and Romario Shepherd as well as Joemal LaFleur. Lending support will be Hakeem Hinds, Keion DeJesus, Trinson Bynol and Damien Vantull.
Shepherd who opened the bowling for Berbice recently, Mark Jackman and possibly Orlando Tanner, will make up the pace attack. The spinners who can be a handful are off-spinners Clements, LaFleur and Kevin Pellew as well as left-arm spinner Vantull.
Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets: Delbert Hicks (Captain), Dominique Rikki, Jason Sinclair (Wicket-keeper), Rajiv Ivan, Khemraj Mahadeo, Eon Hooper, Clinton Pestano, Ravi Narine, Shawn Perreira, Shailendra Shameer, Arif Chan, Devin Baldeo, Daniel Lewis. Manager is Hilbert Foster.
