Kingston, Jamaica – Teenager Shaquana Quintyne starred for West Indies Women as they trounced New Zealand in the second One-Day International at Sabina Park yesterday.
The West Indies won by 89 runs. The series is now level 1-1 with the decider to be played tomorrow at the same venue.
The 17-year-old Quintyne topscored with 29 off 58 balls as the Windies recovered from 95-8 to post 148. She added a crucial partnership of 43 for the ninth wicket with Shakera Selman, who also played well to make 22 in her 50th ODI for the West Indies.
The Leg-spinner then took 2 wickets for 9 runs off her four over as New Zealand were bowled out for a meagre 59. She was well assisted by off-spinner Stafanie Taylor (3-10) and left-arm spinner Shanel Daley, who took 2-14 with the new ball. There were also two run outs by the athletic Deandra Dottin.
