Essequibo Islands Secondary School (EISS) of Wakenaam recorded consecutive victories over New Opportunity Corps (NOC) junior teams in two feature Twenty\20 matches played recently at NOC ground on the Essequibo Coast.
EISS won the first encounter against the NOC U-15 team by a whooping 142 runs. The host decision to insert EISS to bat in front of a large crowd back fired as Kemo Paul who opened the batting blasted 118 which included twelve sixes and four fours. He was ably supported by Sanjay Jairam 28 not out and Tomesh Persaud 19; EISS posted 214-3 in 20 overs. Rudy Das took 2-10. South Essequibo in reply were restricted to 72-4 in 20 overs. Orlando Jailall made 14 while Persaud returned to grab 3-4 with his off spin.
In the second game, EISS defeated NOC U-17 team by 105 runs. The visitors took first strike and rattled up 196-3 in 20 overs. Paul stroked 144 (15×4, 9×6), while Cleon Venture made 26 (1×4,1×6).
South responded with 91-5 in 20 overs. Beesham Dasrat made 34 while leg spinner Narendra Persaud picked up 2 wickets for EISS who received a trophy while Paul collected the most valuable player award. The games were organized by Coach Forbes Daniels as part of a cricket developmental programme in the area.
