Speed XI overcame Parika Defenders by 16 runs to claim the Factory Price softball trophy last Friday evening at the Everest Cricket Club.
Speed XI batted first and rattled up 192-5 off their allotted 20 overs. Fallim Mohamed top scored with 46 (3×4,2×6) while Toolsie Sahadeo stroked 42 (2×4,2×6), Yusuf Yunnis 31 (5×4) and
Orlando Charles 23 (1×6). Rawl Reid claimed 3-17.
Parika Defenders responded with 176-9 in 20 overs. Dubraj Beesham was their best batsman with 57 (2×4,5×6), Mahendra Balgobin supported with 47 (1×4,4×6), Mohamed Safie made 21 (3×6) and Ahmad Bacchus 20 (1×4). Wallack Joseph and Yusuf picked up 3 wickets apiece and Riaz Khan had 2. Yusuf received the man of the match award, Singh the most outstanding batsman trophy and Reid the best bowler prize. Both teams received trophies.
