When the Cavalier Sports and Tour Club (CS&TC) staged its last 10k race walk event around the Melanie Damishana ECD community two weeks ago, Jamal Janeere turned in a brilliant performance to take the top spot in the men’s category, while seventy nine years old Thomas Rouse emulated that feat to take the honours in the veterans’ category.
The walkers will be at it once again, each attempting to replicate the feat while those that lagged behind in the last race will be anxious to improve their performances when the CS&TC stages a similar event tomorrow morning.
Activities would be conducted in collaboration with the Green Path Foundation, in observation of Education Month and will commence at the Plaza site, proceed around the community and culminate at the place of origin.
One again, the organizers will benefit from the largesse of the corporate community and already, Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai and Ricks and Sari Ltd have acquiesced to generous packages and the top walkers will receive beautiful trophies and medals. The walkers are also put on notice for another event slated for Sunday September 29 dubbed the Golden Grove Village Walk.
Race time tomorrow morning is 06:30hrs but walkers are asked to be at the venue by 06:00hrs.
