The Price Is Right Supermarket of No.79, Corriverton, Berbice has come on board with the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) to sponsor the Upper Corentyne 40-over Second Division Cricket competition 2013.
The competition, which has already started, features 28 teams with the teams divided into four zones, starting from No.43 Village to Crabwood Creek. The competition is expected to be completed in two months.
At the semifinal and final stage the competition will take a change where the matches will be played for 50 overs per side using coloured clothing and the ICC 50-over rules.
The winning team will receive $50,000 and a trophy whilst the runner up will receive $30,000 and trophy. There will also be cash incentives and trophies for outstanding individual players including –the man of the match in the semifinals and final, the bowler with most wickets and batsman with most runs in the competition.
The UCCA is also taking the opportunity to thank the sponsor for their benevolence and also call on other businesses to support cricket development in the Upper Corentyne area.
This week will see the third round of the competition being played. (Samuel Whyte)
