Coach Johnson optimistic of team’s chances
Opener Royan Federicks has been named captain of the Essequibo team for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board\ Pepsi 50 overs inter-county tournament which is set to commence on Saturday at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground
Bourda.
The team includes pacers Gilford Moore and Mark Tyrell, wicket keeper batsman Kevon Boodie, left arm spinners Anthony Adams and Herry Green. The batting department seems fine and will be centered on skipper Federicks, Ricardo Adams, Vishwanauth Lall and Dillon Heyliger. Kemo Paul, Jason Heyliger and Sheldon Alexander are the allrounders in the team.
While the manager is yet to be named, Coach Vibert Johnson, feels the team is a balanced one. In an invited comment yesterday Johnson told Kaieteur Sport that they guys are eagerly looking forward to the tournament. “We have a lot of utility players who came through the ranks from the U-15 level so they can hold their own in this competition. The team spirit is high,” added Johnson.
The full squad reads; Royan Federicks (Capt.), Anthony Adams, Gilford Moore, Sheldon Alexander, Vijay Surajpaul, Vishwanauth Lall, Herry Green, Ricardo Adams, Ricardo Peters, Jason Heyliger, Dillon Heyliger, Kemo Paul, Mark Tyrell and Kevon Boodie. Vibert Johnson (Coach).
The stand bys are; Norman Federicks, Rajiv Balgobin, Keanu Harry and Hemant Beharry.
