GCC left-arm spinner Devon Lord about to collect his fifth wicket at Bourda yesterday.

At Bourda, the hosts led half-centuries from Martin Pestano-Belle and Renaldo Ali Mohamed reached 287-5 against Sophia, who responded with 132 in 26.1 overs despite a 70-run opening stand between Dwayne Peters (43)and Zalim Rasheed (22) as left-arm spinner Devon Lord snatched 5-20 from seven overs.
When GCC batted in sweltering heat on a slow track and sluggish outfield, Pestano thumped a stylish 78 with eight boundaries, while Ali-Mohamed, who was adjudged Most Valuable Player of this year’s Regional under-15 tournament, supported with an unbeaten 51 decorated with five fours and two sixes.
Alex Ramalho (27) and Elon Fernandes (23) also chipped in before Gavon Charles (37) put together 57 for the sixth wicket with Ali-Mohamed before Charles was dismissed off the final ball of the innings.
Peters top-scored for Sophia  while Ronaldo Hercules (25) and Rasheed offered token resistance in a losing effort for Sophia, who at one stage were 101-1 before 18-year-old Lord befuddled the batsmen with his spin as the last nine wickets tumbled for just 32 runs.
At Everest, the home team bundled out GDF for a paltry 79 in 24.2 overs and replied with 80-2 to win by eight wickets.
Paul Castello (13), Marcus Watkins (12), Maxwell Fraser (11) and Randy Lindore (10) were the batsmen who got into double figures for the Solders as former National under-19 leg-spinner Troy Gonsalves captured 4-14
