A bevy of sponsors have already jumped on board to be a part of the ‘jumbo size’ seventh annual Guyana Cup Horserace meet organised by conglomerates – Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables with establishments at Bush Lot and Chester Villages, West Coast, Berbice, East Bank Demerara and Georgetown in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club with a lavish $30M in prizes on offer.
The event is set for Sunday 25th August at the Port Mourant Turf Club.
Among the major sponsors that have taken the early initiative to ink their names with sponsorship deals are: Banks DIH Limited, Digicel, Randy Persaud and Sunil Teekaram both of New York, S. Sahadeo Trucking, Shariff Racing Stables, Romell Jagroop Construction, Ashmin’s Trading, Agri Parts, Hand in Hand, Alki Investment, Braveheart Construction, Guytrac, Onkar Persaud, Eldorado Trading and Vijay Ramsingh.
So far the entries are filling up at a rapid pace with over 60 of Guyana top racehorses already on board. All Nine events are attracting entries at a terrific pace and horse owners are advised that no late entries will be entertained.
The B and lower event is once again the feature race of the day with $3.5M and the Guyana Cup trophy over 1700M of a total prize money of $7M at stake.
The other moth watering events are the Co-feature 1600M event for 3-yr old horses, bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies, the organizers have put up a mouthwatering $2.5M and trophy. The Two year old 1000M event for West Indies Bred horses for a $1.5M top prize and trophy.
The E class and lower 1400M event for a winning take of $1M top prize and trophy. There is a race for F class Horses with the winner getting $900,000 and trophy over 1000M. The G 3 and lower1200M event with the winner getting $800,000 and trophy. The second three year old event is for Guyana bred horses and has a $600,000 price tag along with trophy for the top runner over 1200M.
The H and Lower 1000M race for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy. The ‘I’ and lower 1200M event for a top prize of $300,000 and trophy, the final race has $200,000 plus trophy at stake for the winner of the JKL event over 1200M.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the organizers. Entries close on Saturday17th. The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
