DCC summer camp underway

The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) annual summer coaching camp got underway yesterday in Queenstown. According to Coach Gavin Nedd the camp will last for two weeks and participants will be thought about the fundamentals in terms of the technical aspects of cricket, the laws of the game, table etiquette, healthy life styles and road safety.

benefitted tremendously whereby a number of players went on to represent Guyana at various levels. Nedd stated that the programme is part of the club’s developmental programme. “I am hoping that these players can go from strength to strength and move on to represent the West Indies in the future. Players from the East Coast, West Demerara and East Bank have also benefit from this programme so it is going in the right direction”, added Nedd.
Nedd a former Guyana off spinner thanked the club’s president Alfred Mentore, sponsors and parents for making this programme possible. Sessions for the U-12 players run from 09:00hrs to 12:00 hrs and sessions for the U-15 and 19 starts from 13:00hrs and conclude at 15:00hrs. Meanwhile Nedd in an invited comment said that the Limacol Caribbean Premier League T20 could serve West Indies cricket well. He stated that English cricket has grown from strength to strength due to the swapping of players from different counties and West Indies can improve a great deal due to this. He pointed that that the LCPL is one of the better things that happen to the game in the region of recent.
