A 24-year-old electrician died at around 15:00 hrs yesterday after falling from a Guyana Power and Light Company (GPL) utility pole at Le Resouvenir, East Coast Demerara.
Family members identified the dead man as Ronald Arthur of Lot 69 Pompey Street, Christiansburg. Kaieteur News was told that the father of a two-month-old baby girl was employed by Dynamics Engineering Company as an electrician. The engineering company is reportedly sub-contracted by GPL.
According to information, Arthur was on the utility pole when it reportedly collapsed with him, pinning him to the ground. He was then rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in an unconscious state where he died shortly after.
Arthur’s relatives said that they were still to be informed about the circumstances that led to his death. However, a relative told Kaieteur News that the electrician’s employer was giving a statement to ranks at the Sparendaam Police Station.
