A five wicket haul by Chandrika Ragnauth propelled Belle Plaine to a 31 run victory over Maria’s Pleasure when play in the Independence Cup 20-over softball cricket competition continued on Sunday last at Sewram’s Tarmac, Belle Plaine Wakenaam.
Belle Plaine batted first and scored 178-9 of their 20 overs; Satnarine Sahadeo top scored with 51 while Chandrika Ragnauth and Jitendra Persaud made 26 each. Ryan Gordon took 2-33.
Maria’s Pleasure in reply were bowled out for 147 in 18 overs. Bernard Lewis hit 52 and Kennard Lewis 17; Ragnauth returned to grab 5-19, while Vishal Kawal had 3-35 and Gopaul Lewis 2-25.
Sarah defeated Belle Plaine by 2 wickets. Belle Plaine took first strike and were bowled out for 142 in 19 overs. Sahadeo stroked 49 and got support from Devon Rambarran with 29 and Satrohan Shiwnanand 20. Suraj Choon captured 3-52, Besham Bagpattie 2-39 and Jito Persaud 2-36.
Sarah replied with 146-8 off 19.4 overs. Satyaeshwar Ramcharran top scored with 32, while Danesh Persaud made 29 and Shilander Chulai 27. Vishal Kawal and Gopaul Dindyal claimed 3 wickets each and Sahadeo 2.
In another fixture, Belle Plaine got the better of Sans Souci by 114 runs. The home team posted 241 all out in 20 overs, batting first. Sahadeo led with 62 while Jitendra Persaud made 36, Satrohan Shiwnanand 34 and Devon Rambarran 28; Jermin Wolf claimed 4-26 and Prem Persaud 2-24.
Sans Souci were sent packing for 127 in 12 overs. Chandrika Jairam made 28, Rashad Rasheed 26 and Gladwyn Henry 20. Avinash Persaud picked up 4-16 and Vishal Kawal 3-22.
