Mohamed’s Enterprise yesterday handed over a quantity of trophies to the Sports Department of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) for the upcoming Police Inter-Division Athletic Championship at their Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary next month end.
The Police Athletics Championships, which is among the largest in Guyana, will be held July 21-26, beginning with the Road Relay and closing with the usual mega Grand Finale. The trophies are to be handed out as prizes for the Inspectors’ Races.
“On behalf of Mohamed’s Enterprise, we are always supportive of the development of sports in Guyana, and we normally contribute to the Police Sports,” Dione Johnson, one of the supervisors at Mohamed’s Enterprise said at the simple presentation.
Police Sports Officer, Colin Boyce, thanked Mohamed’s Enterprise for their contribution, stating that the trophies will certainly encourage the athletes of yesteryear that are still active within the Force. “This will encourage their health and longevity,” he said.
The Police usually use the Inter-Division Championship to select their team for the Inter-Service Annual Athletic Championships (ISAAC) later this year. The Guyana Police Force and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) are joint ISAAC title holders following last year’s historic tie.
