The Annual Primary Schools Windball Championships which is being sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport (MCYS), National Sports Commisssion (NSC) and Al Sport & Tour Promotions continued, at two venues recently.
In Boys competition at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground- Region #3 defending champions Leonora beat Cornelia Ida by 6 wickets. Cornelia Ida batted first and made 39-6 when the overs expired with Daniel Barker hitting a top-score of 15. Bowling for Leonora, Kemar Ferrier ended with 3-11, Tyrese Wray 2-13.
In their turn at the crease, Leonora reached 41-4, K Ferrier 11. Daniel Baker and Jamar Jenson grabbed 2wickets apiece.
McGillivary then defeated debutants Tuschen by 9 wickets. Tuschen took first strike and compiled 36-4, Kevin Christian 10. Michael Persaud bagged 3wkts. Mc Gillivary chasing 37 for victory, finished on 41-1, Satesh Basdeo slammed 18.
Girls
McGillivary cruised past Tuschen by 15 runs. Mc Gillivary made 54-3, Dayane Singh hit 14.
Tuschen replied with 39-4, Ronessa Renee contributed 10. Abigail Chance and Rosanna Compton picked up 2 wickets each.
Leonora then hammered Cornelia Ida by 9 wickets. Cornelia Ida 34-5, Lakeesa Prince notched up 15. Elizabeth Persaud grabbed 4 wickets bowling for Leonora who reached the required target losing only one wicket in the process. Arifa Rahaman stroked 10.
Over in Region # 6, No.48 blanked New Market by 10 wickets in Girls semi-final action.
New Market eased to 35-0. Defending Upper Corentyne & Region # 6 champions No.48 Primary made light work of the target posting 38-0. No. 48 will play Corriverton in the final.
No.56 then eased to a comfortable 9 wickets triumph over No.48.
Boys
No. 48 was restricted to 21-6. Nicholas Reece and Bhopaul Thomas captured 2 wickets each. No 56 Primary raced to 24-1 to claim victory. No.56 now moves on to play Massiah.
