Ryan Banwarie, Leyland Liverpool, Mukesh Persaud, former West Indies fast bowler Colin Stuart and Cyril Bonar of Suriname were successful at
the Guyana Cricket Umpires Council preliminary examination in 2012. Banwarie, Liverpool and Bonar were presented with their certificates on Sunday when the council held its Ordinary General Meeting at the Georgetown Cricket Club, Bourda while Stuart and Persaud were not on hand to receive theirs.
President of the GCUC Dhieranidranauth Somwaru congratulated the successful members and encouraged them to take umpiring seriously.
Meanwhile, the 26th Biennial Convention of the West Indies Cricket Umpires Association (WICUA) will be held in Trinidad and Tobago from the 28th of June to the 6th of July, 2013 and the GCUC is hereby seeking donation to help offset the cost for their delegates and observers to attend.
