Unidentified man killed in Corentyne accident

A man who is still to be identified was on Saturday evening killed after being struck by a car on the No.1 Road, Corentyne. The incident occurred at approximately 21:30 hours.
According to the police the driver of motor car PMM 9379 was proceeding along the roadway when it is alleged that the pedestrian attempted to cross the road and was struck down. He was pronounced dead on arrival the New Amsterdam Hospital.
The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
The victim is of East Indian descent, appears to be in his mid-sixties, of medium build and brown complexion, and was clad in a blue jersey, dark blue jeans, and a pair of black slippers. The body is at the New Amsterdam Hospital Mortuary.
