Thirty two teams out of the Linden community will vie for honours when Unique Entertainment, a promotional group out of the Mining Town, stages the inaugural Banks Premium Beer Futsal Classic on the hard court of the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground on Friday January 25 next.
The promoters received further support for the tournament when the proprietor of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market, Ramesh Sunich, donated a large trophy which will be given to the winners.
Representative of the sponsors, Bryan Sealey handed over the prize to a representative of the organizers, Marlon Washington at the Trophy Stall establishment yesterday morning.
Mr. Sealey expressed delight on behalf of Mr. Sunich in offering the assistance. He wished the organizers well even as he pledged continued support for initiatives of this nature which provides law abiding activity for young people.
Mr. Washington expressed gratitude to his benefactor saying that the gift would assist greatly in the promotion of the event. He also intimated that the registration is ongoing at the Lee building, Republic Avenue, Linden up until this Friday.
The winning team will pocket $500,000 while the runners up win $300,000. The team finishing third will receive $150,000.
The organizers are scheduled to visit the Thirst Park offices of Banks DIH this morning for the launching in the Boardroom.
