A speeding motorcyclist met a gruesome end on Saturday night after he was run over by a mini-bus on Main Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Sherdell Tim, 21, of Martin Luther King Scheme, New Amsterdam was pronounced dead on arrival at the New Amsterdam hospital at around 23:30 hours.
According to the police, Tim was riding at a fast rate when he slammed into the back of another motorcycle, which was being ridden by Brian Cummings, 29, of Amsville Scheme, New Amsterdam.
Tim lost control of the motor cycle and ended up in the path of a mini bus that was travelling in the opposite direction and was struck down.
Tim and Cummings were taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where Tim was pronounced dead while Cummings was treated and discharged.
Meanwhile, the minibus driver, Jagdeo Basdeo, of Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice has been taken into police custody to assist with investigations.
The bus BEE 2127 has also been impounded at the Central Police Station in New Amsterdam.
