Gunmen beat barbershop owner

A 29 -year-old man who was conducting business as normal last evening in his barber shop was beaten mercilessly by two gunmen who reportedly tried to rob him.
According to reports the incident occurred around 20:30 hours yesterday at his barbershop in Kitty. Up to press time yesterday Gangaram Hemrai of Shell Road, Kitty was still at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit receiving medical attention. This publication was told that the man sustained several lacerations to his face.
Reports are that the two men entered the barbershop posing as customers but after Hemrai showed some opposition one of the men brandished a gun and the other a knife.
The men then started beating him before fleeing. The battered man was rescued by his relatives and some friends and was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital. The matter has since been reported and investigations are ongoing.
