Five Starr Minerals, Coastal Minerals & Rueben & Milbourne Mining supports
The Third edition of the Aruwai Mining Enterprise sponsored
Regatta 20/20 knock-out cricket competition is set for a grand start today at the Bartica Community Centre Ground from 18:30hrs.
Organised and promoted by D&C Promotions, a Bartica based group, this year’s tournament has as its first prize One Million Dollars; defending champions New Line Cavaliers will start as favourites to defend the title successfully but cricket they say is a funny old game and you have to wait until the fat lady sings.
Anything can happen since the tournament is knock-out in format with teams having had lots of time to prepare, it’s now time for action, and that, fans can be assured of.
The other competing teams are D’Edward Sports Club of Berbice, East Bank Essequibo, South Essequibo, Wakenaam, Challengers, Rising Star and Orient.
Corporate support for this year’s tournament has been very encouraging according to the organisers. Five Star Minerals, Coastal Minerals and Rueben & Milbourne Mining have all contributed towards the success of this year’s competition.
The three entities said that they feel very privileged to be a part of what they described as a community tournament which serves to showcase talent not only in Bartica but from other parts of Guyana.
Aruwai Mining Enterprise is the sponsor of the top three prizes which amounts to
$1,750,000. Other entities on board are Scotiabank, Carib, Five Starr Minerals, El Dorado Trading, Mahadeo Investments, Hopkinson Mining, New Modern Hotel, Mice Trucking Service, Sheik Afroze,
MZ Speedboat Service, Mike Conway Mining, Scott’s Service Station and Dino Investments.
The opening ceremony will commence at 18:30hrs at the Bartica Community Centre Ground following which two matches will be contested with another double header set for tomorrow at the same venue.
