Patricia Chase-Green is the newly elected Deputy Mayor of Georgetown.
Her election came yesterday during the Mayor and City Council’s statutory meeting.
However, she is yet to take the oath.
It was not a unanimous decision. Of the 10 Councillors in attendance, one voted against.
Green, who has been vocal in the operations of City Hall, started performing the duties of Deputy Mayor in January, weeks after the hospitalisation of the late Deputy Mayor, Robert Williams in December 2011.
In her acceptance speech, Chase-Green whose house was recently invaded and robbed, praised God for being alive. She also expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their support.
Senior Councilors, Oscar Clarke and Gwen McGowan also expressed congratulations. The new Deputy Mayor was warned that the Councilors would be looking at her closely as she executes her duties.
