Football action in the Thomas United 52nd Anniversary Mashramani Challenge Cup Knockout Competition continues today at the GFC ground, Bourda, with an intriguing doubleheader.
With the four teams all fielding formidable lineups, in their respective quest of advancing to the quarterfinals, football fans and supporters can expect an evening of entertaining displays filled with intense rivalry, involving 4 teams from 3 different associations, in the Phagwah Holiday extravaganza.
Kickoff time is 20:00hrs in the feature match of the ongoing Georgetown and Linden rivalry, when city side Pele engage the mining town’s #1 ranked club Milerock. At 18:00hrs in the curtain raiser, the pride of East Demerara and one time powerhouse Victoria Kings play Thomas United in the first of two qualifying matches.
Over $1,000,000 in cash incentives, trophies, medals and individual prizes are at stake. Sol Service Station, Mc Doom, E.B.D, Ming’s Products & Services along with German’s Restaurant are among the major sponsors. In addition to the Kashif and Shanghai Organization; Rams Pharmacy and Cell Shop and Lingerie Shop both of Cummings Street, Bourda are also on board.
Challenge Cup Knockout action continues on Sunday at the same venue with the return leg of the respective matches and the two winners will advance to the semifinals.
