Berbice High School stages Inter School basketball in Berbice

Basketball action bounces off in Berbice today when the Berbice High School (BHS) Physical Education (PE) Fifth form class as part of the fulfillment for their School Based Assessment (S BA) Caribbean Examination Secondary Education Council Examination (CESEC) project with help from the Berbice Amateur Basket Association (BABA) stages a two day Inter School Round Robin basketball competition.
The team of the Competition is “Keeping Basketball Alive” in keeping with this year’s Mashramani celebrations.
The competition, which will be held today and tomorrow at the BHS tarmac, will see six schools participating. The schools invited are host BHS, New Amsterdam Multilateral School (NAMS) and Tutorial Academy Secondary School (TASS) from New Amsterdam and JC Chandisingh Secondary and Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary from the Corentyne.
Play on both days is expected to begin at 15:00 hrs. The games will be for 30 minutes each and should culminate with a final between the two top teams.  Each win will worth two points.
Trophies, cash and other incentives will be up for grabs. The top two teams along with the MVP, Best defence, best all round player among others will receive accolades.
The tournament has the blessing of the school’s administration, some of whom will be on hand to assist with the presentation ceremony. (Samuel Whyte)
