The security arrangement at the St. Thomas-Moore Primary School is being questioned, after the mother of a Grade Two student entered the building and assaulted another child while school was in session.
Reports are that after lunch yesterday, the parent saw her daughter bleeding from her mouth.
Without proper investigation, she cuffed the Grade Six boy, who her child had fingered as responsible for the bleeding.
However, little did she know, the boy was the victim of a vicious biting attack by her daughter. Apparently, while biting the boy, the girl’s front tooth that was shaking, came out and was the source of the blood.
The woman who tried to flee the scene was stopped by the school’s Head Teacher, who subsequently summoned the boy’s mother, a member of the Guyana Police Force, to the school. When both parents met, another altercation started but this was quickly quelled.
The matter was reported to the Alberttown Police Station and the woman is slated to appear in court today.
However, some parents are outraged by this incident and are worried about their children’s safety. They stressed that, as a rule, parents are not allowed to enter the school compound unless invited in by the teacher, and they are disappointed that the parent bypassed the security guard.
The enraged parents mentioned that the teachers are not pleased with the school’s current security and they were assured that the Ministry of Education was informed about the incident.
