…From Alliance For Change
The Alliance For Change extends greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters on the occasion of Youman Nabi which celebrates the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Unto Him).
The teachings, life and work of the Prophet Muhammad are an example that millions around the world have followed faithfully and rewardingly and one that all Guyanese can emulate.
As we strive to promote unity amongst ourselves and promote peace in our land, we must also find the courage to accept and respect each other’s cultures and religions to strengthen the fabric of our own nation.
We in Guyana can be proud of the fact that we have woven from several cultures and religions a truly Guyanese identity which has much more to celebrate than to divide us.
The AFC hails the prophet Muhammad’s life as an example of devotion, love, and sacrifice and urges our brothers and sisters, whether they are believers or not, to join in celebrating the birth of this Prophet whose teachings will live on forever as a shining example of how to live with oneself, and with each other.
…From People’s Progressive Party
The People’s Progressive Party extends best wishes to all Guyanese but more particularly to the Muslim community on the occasion of Youman Nabi.
This celebration is taking place at a time when there is a struggle for justice and freedom in many parts of the world.
In many countries such as Yemen they are motivated by the teaching of Islam which promotes peace, justice and equality.
Youman Nabi, the birth and death anniversary of the Holy Prophet Mohammed, is a very important date in the Muslim calendar. It offers Muslims an opportunity to reflect on their work in the communities.
In Guyana, the Muslim population has made great contribution to the development of our society. This can be seen in every aspect of life in this country.
On the occasion the PPP extends greetings to all our Muslim sisters and brothers and wish them greater success in the future.
