A dangerous trend near Number 36 Village

Dear  Editor,
As a person who travels daily on the Corentyne highway, I wish to bring to the  attention of the relevant authorities a dangerous  practice which has been going on for several years. It’s the parking of trucks on both sides of the public  road at Number 36 Village .
On most days there are several dozens of them that line the road waiting to deliver paddy at the Nand Persaud Rice Factory. Driving by there is always scary.
A lot of donkeys, pigs and cows hang around there feeding on the paddy that falls from these trucks. Some of them will suddenly dart out from between these trucks into the path of traffic.
I had many close “shaves” with some of them. On one occasion I wasn’t so lucky. I could not avoid hitting an unbranded ass.
It cost me over $250,000 to fix my car, not to mention the fact that my family was in it. I heard many such stories from other drivers as well.
These trucks also destroy the shoulder of the road. I hope something will be done soon.
Besides the inconvenience for drivers who pass here daily, it’s an accident waiting to happen.
