The Guyana Women’s Basketball Association (GWBA) and the Guyana Amateur Basketball
Federation (GABF) have collaborated to support the national junior and senior women’s teams ahead of an upcoming tour to Antigua and Barbuda in March.
The national junior and senior women’s teams are expected to compete at the Annual Gillian Brazier Basketball Shootout scheduled for March 11-18 in Antigua. Guyana participated in the competition in 2007 and was runner-up to champions, Antigua.
“We are confident that we can improve on our performance from our last appearance when we were runner-up. Furthermore, our efforts were well-rewarded when three of our players were awarded scholarships (following the last tour),” GWBA President, Michaela Burnett said in a release.
The GABF handed over a quantity of basketballs yesterday, while the GWBA handed over pairs of sneakers to help in the preparation of the teams. Kaieteur Sport understands that Bernard Daniels will coach the senior team, while Robert Cadogan will work with the junior team.
