-meets with President Ramotar
President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Dr. Julian Hunte after assenting to a request by representatives of the Government to resume talks today at 08:30 hrs, at the Caricom Secretariat, at Liliendaal received a late request by President Donald Ramotar to meet with him to resolve the ongoing administrative crisis that has seeped into local cricket.
Dr. Hunte along with CEO Ernest Hillaire had arranged to meet with the two warring factions to resolve the dispute that stemmed from the Government’s attempt to install an IMC to run the affairs of local cricket.
The two WICB officials have so far held meetings with Guyana Cricket Board executive and Minister of Sport Dr. Frank Anthony separately, before President Ramotar sent an invitation to Dr. Hunte to meet with him late yesterday evening.
According to a source close to the GCB, the situation pertaining to who is really in charge of cricket in Guyana was discussed and it was reaffirmed that the local Board remains the only authorised body recognised by the WICB with the mandate to conduct the affairs of cricket in Guyana.
The source added that any other organisation or committee could only act in an advisory capacity.
