– Johnson finishes second
Lionel D’Andrade successfully defended his Bigi Broki Waka 10km Road Race title in Suriname on Sunday with a scorching time as Guyanese swept the first two places in the race. The Trinidad and Tobago-based D’Andrade was overwhelmed with the performance.
D’Andrade stormed to the top of the podium in 34:10.4 with fellow Trinidad-based long distance runner, Kelvin Johnson finishing second in 34:11.8, while Xiverio Simison was third in a time of 34.21.3 to close off the top three finishers in the race.
D’Andrade welcomed the improved time and said that he is expecting to lower his mark over the course of this year with the continued support of Builders Lumber Yard. Guyana’s Alika Morgan also competed at the meet but her performance could not be confirmed.
