The Blairmont Community Centre on the West Bank of Berbice will Today come alive when the Blairmont Cricket Club once again stages a grand one day 20/20 four team’s knock out cricket competition for the Blairmont Cup, beginning at 09:00 hrs.
Four teams are expected to be a part of the action, namely defending champions Blairmont Blazers, United Warriors, D’Edward Sports Club and Die Hard Rangers. Action will see the teams battling in two semi- finals before the winners engage each other in the finals.
At the end of the competition there will be trophies and well as monetary incentives which will be handed out at the completion of the tournament.
The winning team will receive $50,000 and a trophy, while the runners- up will collect $30,000 and a trophy.
The individual prizes include Man- of- the- Match in all the games, Play- of- the- Day, and Player- of- the- Tournament.
According to the organizers the event is being held to raise funds to execute the club’s programme for 2012, as well as to spread Christmas joy to the children.
Apart from the on- field action, ice cream, toys and air horns will be given away to children, while a domino competition and bar- b- que will also be held.
