Guyanese amateur boxers recently returned from Barbados with 2 gold and a similar number of silver medals in the Ronald Wilson Memorial tournament. Their performances have been commendable and tonight boxing buffs will witness these pugilists in action when the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) in collaboration with the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) stages the amateur segment of the ProAm boxing extravaganza at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall this evening. Laured Stewart one of the gold medalists and a member of the Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF) will match gloves with Travis Fraser in the welterweight division while Elijah Inshanally of the Harpy Eagle’s Boxing gym will match gloves with Jamal Eastman of the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym (PRBG) in the 75-79lbs category. Dillon Charles (FYF) will tackle Richard Williamson (PRBG) while Ron Smith (GDF) tackles Harpy Eagle’s Romeo Norville.
The boxers will receive food hampers donated by Courts (Guyana) Ltd as have been the custom ever since the commencement of the programme in February last year. The boxers attended the weigh in ceremony last evening.
