The rhythm of garbage collection in certain communities in and around Georgetown which utilizes Cevons Waste Management services through the Mayor and City Council has been disrupted.
According to Mayor Hamilton Green, the Council has since deployed its own manpower and machinery to help bring relief to the affected communities which include Century Palm Gardens, North Tucville, North Ruimveldt, Water Front Scheme, a section of Guyhoc, and Phase 7 & 8 in South Ruimveldt, and Festival City.
He stated that Cevons Waste Management routinely experiences mechanical problems but provides efficient services to the communities. Green is hoping that the company recommences operations soon since during the Christmas season there is bound to be a vast increase in household refuse.
In the interim, the Council is finding it difficult to pick up the slacks. Greene emphasised that if all the Council’s trucks were functioning, the disruption would have been minimal. He insisted that the Council’s workshop is ill-equipped to fix and maintain its machinery.
