Already football fans have been treated to two good matches when the 22nd edition of the Kashif and Shanghai Football extravaganza got underway at the GCC ground Bourda Saturday evening last.
Pele FC and Mill Ballers FC started their journey to championship honours after defeating Timerhi Panthers and Kuru Kururu Warriors respectively in the opening matches. Over the years the tournament has delivered action packed encounters and this could be attributed to the immense support of corporate Guyana that has rendered untold financial input.
Yesterday afternoon, yet another of these corporate citizens, Cell Phone Shack of 21 North Road Lacytown acquiesced to a lucrative sponsorship deal towards the success of the tournament. As a matter of fact, it took just one phone call for the Managing Director of the firm, Christopher Low Koan to donate 25 cell phones, inclusive of Blackberries, Samsungs and other top brands which will be given to several lucky patrons.
Co-Director of the K&S organization, Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major accepted the gift on behalf of his organization and expressed gratitude to his benefactor. Mr. Major said that the Cell Phone Shack has always been supportive of the tournament and has been on board during the early years. He urged the public to reward the proprietor by supporting his business place.
Mr. Low Koan said that he is extremely delighted to be associated with the tournament even as he wished the organizers well. The tournament continues at the GCC Ground Bourda on Friday afternoon when Grove Hi Tec tackles Netrockers FC from 18:30hrs followed by the feature attraction between Western Tigers and Amelia’s Ward starting at 20:30hrs.
