Dear Editor,
The Christmas season is hard bearing down on us, National Elections have been completed, turmoil has followed it.
But what I want to talk about is the turmoil that Guyana’s Football is in. The Kashif and Shanghai Annual Football Tournament is here again, hundreds or maybe thousands of visitors will be here to visit Guyana’s biggest sporting activity, but you know what, the tournament is watered down with the exclusion of some of the country’s top clubs, and you know why, the Guyana Football Federation and the Georgetown Football Association “deh pun stupidness”. The facts of their confrontation and legal battles are so complicated that it makes you want to puke.
While they are “egoing” it out the players have to suffer, football have to suffer and the spectators have to suffer, and you know what, these administrators are just messing up the sport of football with their personal agenda.
I think the time is now for the administrators to realise if there are no footballers and football, they would become obsolete. Come on Gentlemen, think about the broader picture.
Guyana’s football is on a roll, Golden Jaguars are doing things, they are carrying on, and the Lady Jags (U20) are also kicking butts. Do you guys really, really love football. What you say? Yes. You gotta be kidding.
Can someone please save Guyana’s Football from these selfish administrators, somebody pleeeezzzz. Thank you.
Theresa
