The alleged contract killers of 72-year old Clementine Fiedtkou- Parris appeared once again at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, this time to hear the date scheduled for the commencement of their trial.
The men had to return before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell. On the last occasion the men were charged jointly for the alleged contract killing of the elderly woman. They are still not required to plead to the indictable charge.
To date four men have been implicated in the death of the Robb Street resident. Orin Hinds, 35, of Burnham Boulevard, Mocha, East Bank Demerara; Cleon Hinds, 34, of 23 Middle Road, Albouystown; Kevin October, 29, of Second Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara; and 34-year-old Roy Jacobs of Evans Street Charlestown.
When October appeared in court on Tuesday he told the magistrate that he knows nothing of the charge against him. The accused told the court that he was in jail at the time of the murder so it was impossible that he could have killed the woman.
“I can’t be in two places at the same time,” the man told the gathering. He was later instructed by the court that at this time he was only present for a date and only the conducting of a trial would vindicate him of any wrong doings. The men were subsequently taken back to the holding area of the court.
Ex- Policeman Otis Grant was also part of police investigations after the lawmen had indicated their interest in the man wanted for questioning when rifles were found two doors away from where the man lived. He turned himself over to the police accompanied by his lawyer but was later released.
Parris died from multiple gunshot wounds when two men pretending to want an audience with the woman opened fire on her at her Lot 42 Robb Street, Bourda home. The woman’s brother had reportedly witnessed the whole ordeal and related his knowledge of the events.
Orin Hinds, Cleon Hinds, October and Jacobs will return to court on January 5. The prosecution is to commence the process of proving the men’s guilt in the alleged crime.
